3rd – Mrs. Davis

This class worked in collaboration with Color Fusion Glass Studio in Boise to create this beautiful fused glass cross.  The studio cut and fused 2 sheets of glass to create the cross.  Design elements were then drawn directly onto the cross using a light table. Next, students placed the various colors on the cross using glass frit. The cross was fired up to 1455 degrees a second time to fuse the glass frit to the cross base. The kiln is held at various temperatures through the heating and cooling process to reduce bubbles in the glass, add strength to the glass, and to achieve the desired result of texture. After approximately 24 hours in the firing process, the end result is this beautiful display of the cross using a very old form of kiln-formed glass art.
