“...their natural argumentativeness may just as well be canalized to good purpose as allowed to run away into the sands.” Dorothy Sayers

The lost art of formal logic is the central force in grades 7-9. Students continue their mastery of language through a heavy emphasis on grammar, Latin, and good writing. Math skills continue to build, with an emphasis in understanding, not just doing the problems. Our science program emphasizes an understanding of the core sciences.

In grades 7-9, our students undergo a sweep through history in 3 years (ancient, medieval, and modern). We integrate literature, philosophy, theology, and art into one 2-hour class that provides a solid understanding of the who, what, when, where and why behind Western civilization.

Another key distinction is our emphasis on character development. During these ages, peers, parents, and school strongly influence who the student will become. Our emphasis on honor and virtue permeates our environment. We expect students to hold to a higher standard of Christian love, kindness, honesty, respect, and service. In doing this, we also encourage maturity that results in students who are comfortable speaking with adults and who are respectful and confident.
